Hazel L. Taylor

She is survived by her sons, Benjamin Taylor, his spouse, children, and grandchildren, and Alexander Taylor and his children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis W. Taylor, and her parents, William D. Kirkpatrick and Mamie Gowins Kirkpatrick.

Hazel had a lifelong love of learning and a deep appreciation for education. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in German Language from Southwest Tennessee College in Memphis in 1964. She later pursued her passion for the arts, earning a second Bachelor of Arts in Art from Arkansas Tech University in 1987, followed by a Master of Education in Instructional Technology in 1991.

Art and teaching were at the heart of Hazel's life. She combined these passions while teaching at Arkansas Tech University, where she had also been a student. During the 1980s, she served as Director of the River Valley Art Center in Arkansas, helping to foster an appreciation for the arts within the community. She also enjoyed historical research providing research services for Destrehan Plantation.

In her later years, Hazel found great joy in her church family at the United Methodist Church in Destrehan. She faithfully volunteered with the church food pantry and participated in many other church activities, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Hazel will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to the arts, and her generous heart.
