He is survived by sister; Brenda A. Smith and his lifelong partner, Joseph Beal. Three nieces, Angelle Nicolle Smith, Holly and Kristy Zeigler. Three nephews; Kim P. Smith, Jr., Aiden J. and David Zeigler. An uncle, Jim Pierce and aunt Barbara Roselle. He leaves behind many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Homer L. Bates, Sr. and Nell J. Pierce. Two sisters; Glenda Gayle Bates and Lenda Bates Duhe. One uncle, Henry Bates.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home.
