Jeffrey David Raiford, a resident of Luling, LA., passed away peacefully at home, at 68 years old from pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family in prayer as he entered his heavenly home. Jeff was born and raised in Norco, LA., was a graduate of Destrehan High School where he played baseball, football, and was a proud member of the 1973 Football State Championship Team. He briefly attended Louisiana State University before leaving to pursue family life with the flame and love of his life, Becky Raiford.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ivale Champagne Raiford, father, George Bernard Raiford Sr., and brothers Patrick Raiford, George Raiford Jr., and Matthew Raiford, Sr.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Becky LeBlanc Raiford, daughters, Jennifer Raiford Rose (James “Jimmy”), Jessica Raiford, Elizabeth Raiford (Emily), and his beloved granddaughters, Madison Raiford Rose, Isabella Rose and Judah Guidry. He is also survived by brothers Michael Raiford (Sherry), Timothy Raiford (Jeanne), Albert “Rock” Raiford (Karen), and by the wife of deceased brother, Patrick, Ann Trepagnier Raiford. Jeffrey was blessed with many family and friends.
Jeffrey was a man with extraordinary talent; never falling short in sharing those gifts with God’s children. He spread the word of Christ as a religion teacher with Holy Family Catholic Church, and passed on his gift for athletics, having coached all three daughters’ softball teams for nearly fifteen years. Jeff was a gifted aviation plane builder and flyer. He spent most of his free time building model aircrafts that he would later fly with his friends of the Crescent City Radio Club.
Jeff loved his work, spending over forty years in plant operations at multiple facilities. His career began at Shell Chemical Company in Norco, La., with several stops along the way, his final position being a technician with Nalco Water; the best work family he ever had.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice for all the care and compassion they showed Dad, especially Kristen Wolfe, his personal nurse.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling, LA on Saturday September 6, at 11AM.
Visitation will begin at 9:30AM. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
