June Leblanc Murray, Born June 1, 1935 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She began her new journey to Christ on May 5, 2017, age 81 years old. Married for 62 years to Paul J. Murray Jr. A.I.A. Graduate of Kenner High School, in Kenner Louisiana. June was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish and St. Thomas of the Sea Parish in Orange Beach AL and the Neo Catechumen Way at St. Charles Borromeo, Blessed Trinity and St. Jerome R.C. Churches.
June and her husband Paul began their journey in the Neo Catechumen Way in St. Charles Parish in 1986. Their initial duties to the Neo Catechumen Way were to proclaim the Risen Christ which continues in several communities including St. Jerome in Kenner and Blessed Trinity in New Orleans. Her leadership included being an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Counselor to members of the community. After Hurricane Katrina she was very active with the Way assisting members with Blessed Trinity Church. Through her work, she assisted many members seeking Christ through The Way.
In addition to her faith, June was active in several businesses in St. Charles Parish including Bonjour Staffing Services, Murrayhill Realty and Murray Architects. She was a managing partner in multiple real estate development companies that brought development and subdivisions such as Murrayhill Drive, Ormond Oaks Drive, River Oaks Drive, Ormond Meadows Drive, River Village Drive, Ormond Village Drive, the Cove Subdivision, Ormond Place, Acadian Trace, Ormond Trace, Ormond Oak Center, Ormond Center and Hill Heights Country Club, just to mention a few.
June Murray of Murray Architects was instrumental in the negotiations with Pan American Oil Refinery having authored the letter request to Pan American that was the deciding document that led to the donation of the Historic Destrehan Plantation Home to the River Road Historical Society on December 17, 1971. Thus sparing the loss of yet another historical plantation home in Louisiana.
She was also a founding member of the Saints Board of Realtors of the River Parishes, was president in 1975 and 1976. She helped the Realtors promote fair and impartial representation to buyers and sellers in a growing suburb of the Greater New Orleans Area. In addition to her brokerage work with Murrayhill Realty, she remained active in several business including the architectural firm, Murray Architects, she co-founded with her husband Paul in 1957. She was able to see the beginning of the construction of the Rodney Lafon Performing Arts Center for the St. Charles Parish Public Schools System. She remained active in the firm until her death.
She was also a Member of the St. Charles Parish Recycling Committee that successfully implemented the 1st Recycling Program that ran until Hurricane Katrina caused the program to end. It was her lasting hope to see the recycling program resume. She continued recycling in her home and business.
June was preceded in death by her father Henri Emilius Leblanc, mother Ruby Lee (Eaton) Duvigneaud, and daughter Lisa Lynn Murray. June is survived by her husband Paul, her step-sister, Fran Holman, Sons Paul J. “Joey” Murray III (Stacy), Peter Murray (Laura), Patrick Murray and Daughter Amy Catherine Murray she is also survived by 19 Grand Children, Paul Murray IV (Cheney), Chad Murray (Lauren), Larry Andre’ Murray (Courtney), Jared Murray (Haley),Blake Murray (Kimberly); Sarah Coffman; Megan Legendre Smith (Bobby), Rebecca Murray McInerney (Taylor); Andrea & Adam Berleman, Zachary, Seth, Patrick (PJ) Murray Jr & Sarah Jones (Shawn); Marc (Kirstie), Matthew (Leslie), Joshua (Brittany) & Jeremy Davis, Grace Murray. She is also survived by 27 Great Grand Children: Lisa Pilar Berguno; Anistin, Sirandin & Quincin Murray; Maverick Murray; Kain Murray; Luke & Ayden Murray; Beau Murray; Spencer & Warner Smith; Lily Collins; Laneyjane &Lillian Rayne Jones; Alaina Dionisio & Landon DeLay; Henry Fletcher; Hunter Murray; Emily, Marc Jr & Cayden Davis; Aubriana, Isaiah & Paisley June Davis; Joshua Davis Jr; Gabriel Hidalgo & Braiden Davis.
The services will be on Thursday, May 11, 2017, Family Visitation 9:00 am Friends and Family Visitation 9:30 am until Mass at 12 O’clock Noon when a Christian Neo Catechumen Way Mass will be held.
