Mary Margaret Nichols Powe

Mary Margaret Nichols Powe, of Norco, LA went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Margaret was born in Union, MS, but spent most of her life in Norco. She was the daughter of the late Berry Preston Nichols and Myrtle Odessa Nichols. Margaret was the loving wife of James H. “Jimmy” Powe for 55 years, until his death in April 2016. She is survived by her daughters Robin Powe (Donald) Kane of Chattanooga, TN, and Lindsay J. Powe of Norco, LA; her beloved grandchildren, Preston Earl (Alex) Kane and Molly Neel Kane; and great-granddaughter Elowen Marybeth Kane. Other survivors include her sisters, Mildred Nichols Crowell and Marie Nichols (Jay) Proue; nephew Scott P. Henderson; nieces Michelle Berteau (Marcus) Miller and Ashlie Berteau (Ricky) Andrade; great nieces Mihailey Miller, Mallorey Miller, Kaylie Andrade and great nephew Rylie Andrade. In addition to her parents and her husband she is preceded in death by her granddaughter Mary Beth Kane and her nephew Matthew “Matt” Henderson. Margaret retired as the Executive Director of the St. Charles Council on Aging and was a member of First Baptist Church of LaPlace, LA. She was a woman of great faith and character and was a loving Mom to her daughters; precious “Marnie” to her grandchildren and family; and best friend to her sisters. A private celebration of her life will be held in Destin, FL by her family. In her memory, please take time to love and cherish your family as she did.
