Merrill "PaPa" James Dasch Sr.

Merrill J. “PaPa” Dasch Sr., born June 2, 1915, passed away September 5, 2017 at the age of 102. He is reunited in heaven with his wife of 72 years, Alma Chiasson Dasch, his parents Emit and Albertine Trauth Dasch and brother Joseph Dasch.

He is survived by his son Merrill J. “Jim” Dasch Jr. (Barbara), daughter Lucy Dasch Allen (Loyd) and grandchildren Laurie Abate Ball, Patrice Abate Millet (Mickey), Marcel J. Abate (Penny), Jody Dasch Kling (Andy), Mikel Dasch, Kenneth Allen (Lilliana), and Wendy Allen Cochran (Darrell). He also leaves behind 19 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren to cherish his memory.

“PaPa” was an avid gardener who loved to grow all things, especially his vegetable to share with his family and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

The family wishes to thank the Carpenter House and Saint Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, 821 Fourth St. Norco, LA 70079, on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5:30 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, LA 70079 at 9 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM, with interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA 70047. Condolences may be expressed at www.HCAlexander.com.
