Mildred Babin Portera

Mildred Babin Portera, age 89, born in St. Rose, raised in New Sarpy and resident of Destrehan, La. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony (Tony) Portera and daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Babin.

The mother of Cynthia Portera, Janet Herbert, Toni Offner and Tim Portera and sister of Judith Caillouet, Alice Murphy, the late Hilda Weber, Larry and Lester Babin. Sister-in-law to the late Cosimo, Sam and Ross Portera, Concetta Mule, Rosie Butera, Josephine Windecker and Margaret Portera. Grandmother of Jason Portera, Mike and Stephanie Derek, John Herbert, C. J. and Lauren Offner, Amber and Wyatt Portera and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home, 821 Fourth St., Norco, LA. and will continue on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am with Fr. Tom McCann officiating. Burial will follow in the church mausoleum.

Arrangements are under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.
