Rita Kugler Sikes

Rita Kugler Sikes, a beacon of love, loyalty, and selflessness, entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2025. She graced this world with her presence for 94 remarkable years. Rita was a native and lifelong resident of Norco, LA until 2018, when she moved in with her daughter, Lisa in Fulshear, TX where she passed away peacefully.

Rita was the beloved wife of the late Edward Francis Sikes, whom she married on August 20, 1955. They shared a beautiful life together spanning 28 years in Norco, LA. Loving mother of Edward Sikes (Cathleen), Lisa Zeringue (Barry), Eric Sikes (Ana), Everett Sikes (Pattie), and Silvia Sikes; who, in turn, blessed them with thirteen cherished grandchildren, Barry “BZ” Zeringue, Jr., Clint Zeringue (Melissa), Jared Zeringue (Connelly), Renee’ Payne (Garret), Bridget Lankford (Marc), Edward Sikes (Danielle), Ryan Perry (Nicole), Rita Riggs (Glenn), Eric “EJ” Sikes, Wesley Sikes (Kelsey), Sister Heather Sikes, Sara McGarry (Chase), and Gavin Duhe (Mallory), and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Enola St. Martin.

The family would like to thank At Home Hospice and Palliative Care and BrightStar Home Health for the compassionate care they provided to Rita in her final days.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 AM – 11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rita’s honor, a fitting tribute to her lifelong gift of helping others.
