

She is preceded in death by her parents, William H. Douglass and Diana Matherne Douglass, grandparents, Charles “Paw Doug” Douglass, Gladys “Maw Turn” Douglass, Norman Matherne, and Gladys Matherne, along with many of her and John’s pets.
She is survived by her husband, John Wesley Raynor, uncle, Jay Matherne, aunt, Ava Mobley, brother-in-law, Michael Bednarz (Veronica), nephew, Brian Bednarz, his daughter, Erin, niece Michelle Beauchamp (Charles), and their children, Marie and Anthony.
Sarah worked as a kindergarten teacher at St. Rose Primary for 30 years, where she loved every one of her students, many of whom she still kept in contact with.
She dearly loved her husband, her three beloved Schnauzers dogs, her longtime best friends, Faith Hickman and Carol Flannigan, as well as so many other dear friends. She held a special place in her heart for Eli Tigchelaar, who considered her a bonus grandmother. She loved being an aunt and a great aunt. Sarah loved to travel and the destinations were unlimited. She enjoyed painting and all types of arts and crafts. She loved fishing, nature, and all animals, and had a passion for raising endangered Monarch butterflies.
Sarah will be remembered for her caring nature, often putting others needs before her own. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 6 - 9 pm at Petra's Restaurant, 1036 W. Airline Hwy. Laplace, LA.
