

Thomas R. Hymel, Sr. (Tommy) passed away peacefully August 29, 2025, at age 93. He was born April 3, 1932, to parents Lionel Jr. and Louise LaCroix Hymel. He was a native and 49-year resident of Good Hope, LA. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 67 years, Myrtis St. Pierre Hymel, daughter Sheree, son Tommy Jr., sister Elva Friloux and brother Leroy. He is survived by his brothers Rockne and Lionel III (Ann), children Chris “Kike” (Kathy), Jodi and Mark (Katherine), grandchildren Joey (Lisa), Danielle, Christina, Tára (David), Ryan (Cristina), James (Halee), Justin (Lea), Jessi (Chandler), and Matthew (Caroline), and 11 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Jase, Rivers, Collins, Hunter, Autumn, Remington, Gage, Drake, Deanna and Mia.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from GATX. He will be remembered for his strong yet gentle love, generosity, steadfast loyalty, love of his treasured cows and his adoration of his wife. He will be deeply missed by his family, who will carry his values with them always, cherishing the countless memories.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan. Visitation at 9:30AM, Mass at 12PM, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
