Wanda Jean McDonald Ward, age 80, of St. Rose, Louisiana, passed away on August 13, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born March 2, 1946, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Erlene Parker and Johnie McDonald, Wanda lived a life defined by strength, laughter, and boundless generosity.
For nearly four decades, Wanda was a familiar face at MSY Airport, dedicating 38 years to the airline industry before retiring in '03. She never missed a thing—or an event. Her home and heart were always open, and she spent her lifetime taking care of her family, her friends, and anyone in need.
Wanda found joy in the world around her. She was a master gardener who could grow a tree out of a weed, and she chased the things that brought light into life: travel, live music, beach trips, stunning sunsets, outside fires, and her many animals. She loved fiercely and gave completely.
Her vibrant legacy lives on through her daughter, Christianne Ward; her granddaughter, Kyla Hanley; her close family friend, Papa Herb; and the many beautiful souls and "misfit kids" she gathered along the way.
To honor a life so full of joy, a Celebration of Life will be held on October 11th per Wanda's explicit request. In place of flowers, considerations may be made in her honor to the SPCA or the Leukemia Research Foundation.
