Obituary of Alison Susanne Magnin
Alison Susanne (Beyer) Magnin, aged 46, of Chesapeake, Virginia, died January 22, 2017, from cancer at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, VA. Alison was born on April 8, 1970, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. She is survived by her loving husband, Christian Magnin, of Chesapeake, VA and by her parents, Joan and Anthony Beyer, who reside in Cary, NC. Alison is also survived by her loving sister, Betsy Albright, her brother-in-law, Adam Albright, her nephew Alex Albright and her niece Maddie Albright – all of Wilmington, NC. Surviving French relatives include nieces Marine & Anna Magnin, nephews Victor & Louis Magnin, brothers-in-law Olivier and Xavier Magnin, and Christian’s parents, Laurent and Ines Magnin, of Robion, France. Alison was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Tom and Tina Buchanan of Minneapolis MN, and paternal grandparents Clarence and Elizabeth Beyer, of Tracy, MN. Alison first expressed her desire to be a teacher in third grade at elementary school in Cary. Alison graduated from Cary High School in 1988 and North Carolina State University in 1992. Alison received a North Carolina Teaching Fellowship, and majored in Education, with an emphasis in English. From 1992 until 2016, Alison taught at all education levels from pre-school through high school in North Carolina, and New Jersey. She completed her teaching career at Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she taught English. Alison was awarded “Teacher of the Year” from Granby High School in 2015. Alison also had a passion for all things French (French family, culture, cuisine) following a Cary High School French club trip to France at the age of 15. Funeral arrangements include a funeral mass on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St Michael’s Catholic Church at 804 High House Road, Cary, NC, 27513, at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow.
