Anselmo Amor Aquino, lovingly known as “Moy” to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Norfolk, Virginia, on November 2, 2026, at the age of 93. After years of illness, hospitalizations, and recovery, Moy entered eternal rest, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, devotion, quiet strength, and cherished family memories.
Born on April 21, 1933, in Manila, Philippines, Moy was the son of Alfredo and Marcelina Aquino. He grew up on Singalong Street as one of eleven children in a close-knit family where loyalty, togetherness, and love were deeply rooted. With so many siblings, the Aquino family was a formidable presence on the basketball court and in the pool halls, often dominating simply by their sheer numbers. These early years helped shape Moy’s lifelong appreciation for family and the simple joys of being together.
Moy attended the University of the East, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Alongside his professional pursuits, he worked as a tailor in his father’s family business, developing a strong work ethic and a sense of pride in his craftsmanship. In 1981, he moved his family to the United States, where he continued his dedication to providing for those he loved through his work in manufacturing.
Although Moy took pride in his work, his greatest accomplishment and deepest source of happiness was always his family. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather, he expressed his love not through grand gestures, but through countless everyday acts of kindness and selflessness.
Whether faithfully placing his paycheck in his wife’s hands, chauffeuring his daughters wherever they needed to go, or spending precious moments playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Moy’s life was a beautiful reflection of his unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
A man of gentle character and quiet appreciation, he took great pride in maintaining a beautifully manicured lawn and an immaculate yard. His weekends often found him lovingly tending to his cars, taking special pleasure in keeping them washed, polished, and looking their very best. He especially enjoyed peaceful moments in his favorite chair, sipping a cup of hot black coffee while reading the newspaper. These familiar routines reflected the humble, steady, and gracious spirit that made him so deeply loved
.
Moy shared 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Teresita Leonen Aquino. He was a devoted father to his three daughters, Sue-Ann Ewers, Yvette Costales, and Marie Scott. His legacy of love continues through his two cherished grandchildren, Kionne Scott and Ysabel Costales, and five precious great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Kylie, KJ, Kaya, and Kori.
Throughout his 93 years, Moy demonstrated that a meaningful life is measured not by material possessions or grand achievements, but by the love we give, the sacrifices we make, and the memories we leave in the hearts of others. His gentle presence, steadfast devotion, and quiet strength will forever be treasured by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that his long journey has come to a peaceful end and that his legacy will live on through the generations he loved so dearly.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Moy’s life and honoring his memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 17, 18, or 19, 2026 (date to be confirmed) at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 3314 Sandra Lane, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
