

Chief (E7) Ben Q. Ancheta, U.S. Navy (retired), 85, entered eternal rest on June 24, 2026 in Norfolk, VA. Born on July 14, 1940 in the Philippines, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years then worked as a civilian for 21 years. Ben’s career included tours in the Vietnam War and numerous domestic duty stations. After retiring from the military, Ben enjoyed a simple, quiet life gardening and being a handyman of all things with cars and the house. He is survived by his loving wife, Elisa, of 62 years; his children, Julius, Juliet (Frank) Ceci and Jessica (Marc) Harlan; and six grandchildren, Skyler, Gavin, Alexa, Alyssa, Ava and Avery; his brother Celo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Severo Ancheta and Carolina Quezon and siblings Lino, Beling, Asil and Librada.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, a guiding light, and a friend to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm for family, friends, and loved ones.
A burial with full military honors will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 10am to 1045am. Service to follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 1230pm.
