Bernice Taylor Wiley was called to her heavenly home on January 20, 2019. Bernice was the only child of English immigrants Wilfrid Taylor and Martha Cheetham. Bernice’s family moved to Eastern KY to become missionaries. Bernice became an RN, and worked in the coal camps where she met Ray Wiley Jr., with whom she married and started a family. After Ray enlisted in the U.S Navy, Bernice and her family moved to Norfolk. Bernice continued her career as a public health nurse with the City of Norfolk until her retirement.
Bernice has been a lifelong Christian. She enjoyed playing piano for Sunday school and taught her “little old ladies class”, even after she became one! Bernice was a generous supporter of mission outreach.
Bernice is preceded in death by her Husband, Ray Wiley Jr. and her son John (Sally) Wiley. Survived by Alan (Mindy) Wiley, Terry (Fred) McKenna, 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren and many more relatives and friends. Bernice was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
