Born on August 3, 1932, in Pike County, Kentucky. BB lived most of her life in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she and her beloved husband, Joe Burke (deceased), laid down roots and raised their three children: William "Bill or as BB would say…Billy” Burke, Myra Boykin (JT), and Melody Kona (George).
BB had an infectious personality and made lasting impressions on family, friends, and community. She was known for her signature egg sandwiches and her love of Bingo. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, casinos, and reading the Bible.
BB was a true “Queen of All Trades”. Her flawless seamstress skills were self-taught, and her creations were loved by many. After many decades of being a “Kitchen Beautician” at the age of 50 completed Cosmetology School to receive a License and opened her own salon “The Hair Station”.
She was preceded in death by her extraordinary husband Joe, her brothers and sisters, Lou Trout (Jonah, deceased) and Billy Ruth Blackburn, Simmie "Junior" Rogers (Phyllis, deceased), Darryl Rogers (Addie, deceased), and Carl Dean Rogers (Shirley, deceased).
She is survived by her children, Bill, Myra, and Melody; five grandchildren, Allison (Joe), Jenna, Becky (Chris), Heather (Jason), and Amanda (Kevin); and her ten beloved great-grandchildren, Aidan, Hayleigh, Hunter, Braydon, Nathaniel, Landon, Devynn, Evelyn, Logan, and Abigail. She is also survived by lifelong friend and honorary sister Mary Ann Dyke.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation and gratitude to granddaughter Becky, Wookiee, and great-grandchildren Braydon and Abby for their unwavering 24/7 care of BB over the last several years, allowing her dignity, comfort, and peace in her final days. The family would also like to thank her home health team Donna, Lisa, Kathy, and Jessica for taking BB under their wing and loving her as their own.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
