Betty Andrus Buist Hammer, 83, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 in Sentara Bayside Hospital with her family at her side. Surviving are her husband of 63 years Robert Wesley Hammer, two daughters, Susan Brooks and Marjorie Glaubke both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Robert Hammer of Chesapeake and John Hammer of Virginia Beach; one sister, Helen Jones of Tallahassee, Florida. Thirteen grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren. Betty was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and she loved to listen to music and loved to dance with Robert. Many hearts she touched and many lives she helped mold. She has left with us the gifts of love, life, happiness and joy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services that will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11 AM .
