Bobbie Jo Harling

life of a beloved Mom, Nanny, Great grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She was born on May 17, 1932 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was a longtime respected and dedicated nursing assistant for 40+ years. She was a strong, amazing woman who inspired many and was known as the neighborhood mom. She was loved and adored by all, with a heart of gold. She had a passion for people, animals, and her entire family. She was a devoted Christian woman and was a member of Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her is her son, Daniel Batchelor (Donna); daughters, Geneva VanPelt (Tim) and Bobbie Sexton; sister, Shellye Brewton of Pensicola, FL; grandchildren, Brooke Sexton, Kimberly Batchelor (Jonathan), Brianna Scheivert (Vance), Monica and Grant Bennett, and Timothy VanPelt, Jr.; her two great grandsons, Vance Scheivert II and Xander Sexton… Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and very dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Helen Lloyd; husband, Alan Harling; son, Wilton Batchelor; and her brother, Sonny Lloyd.

A very special thanks to Freda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care of Tidewater for their compassion and exceptional care. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502, on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Visitation will be 4:30 to 6:00 PM, service will immediately follow 6-7 PM inside Woodlawn’s Chapel.
