Carolyn Thompson Smith

Carolyn Thompson Smith, 62, went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2018. She was born in Meridian, MS to the late Andrew and Velma B. Thompson and was a graduate of Meridian High School. She also graduated from Tidewater Technical Institute of VA and went on to work for over 15 years at Little Creek Naval Base at the Boone Clinic as a Dental Technician. While working there she received the Naval Medical Center Certificate of Excellence and Outstanding Service Award.

Carolyn was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA and served on their Usher Board. She was also employed by Eurpac as a service driver She enjoyed photography,making glass bead jewelry, singing, dancing and poetry writing.

Carolyn is survived by: her loving husband, Vernell Smith, a daughter: Jessica Thompson Ferguson, two sons: Tabious Cole and Dammion Thompson, 6 sisters: Ruth, Anne, Dorothy, Rose, Gwendolyn and Rebecca, 2 brothers: Nathaniel "Nate" Thompson and John Thompson,6 grandchildren: Tabious Cole, Jr., Regina Thompson, Trenton Cole, Tabitha Cole, Christopher Ferguson and Jaiden Ferguson and many other loving family members and friends.

Carolyn’s visitation will be held, Sunday, August 5th from 2-4 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. Her Homegoing Celebration will be, Monday at 11 AM at Mt.
