Caridad “Carrie” Geroca, 99 years old, Born in Barugo, Leyte Philippines, passed away July 26, 2021, peacefully at home in the presence of family and loved ones. Mom had a special bond with God each and every day since she was a little girl. Raised with a strict Catholic upbringing, she had an altar in each home we lived and her children prayed the Rosary with her. Daily, kneeling in front of the altar, she prayed on behalf of our family and others. Because of her constant prayers, we have all been so blessed.
“Mama” was very loving and caring, a great cook and a fashionista. It was lovingly known to our family that she could be mischievous at times; loved to dance and sing and her laughter was contagious. She graduated college in the Philippines with an Education degree.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Robincio, and her loving son, “Roby”. Left behind to cherish her memory are Gloria Serrano, Ofelia Micks, Rose Geroca (Karen) and Andrew Geroca (Jill), 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mom will be laid to rest At Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the Mass with a reception to follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
The Geroca family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Amedisys Home Hospice Care, in particular, nurse Becky and Pastor Dave for their care, prayers and support. Additionally, we thank Tim and Alice Roco for years of serving communion at their home and the support they provided to both our parents and family.
Our deepest gratitude to Jill and a very special thanks to Aidan, her grandson, for his devotion and care over his “grandma”. He has always shown her patience, love and respect.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia at www.cceva.org.
