

Charles “Chuck” Ray Kinsey, 75, passed away at his home on October 15, 2018. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy G. and Irvine Kinsey. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty years, Martha Kinsey; son Derrick Kinsey, his wife Penny, and their two children, Khaki and Ketch; son Justin Kinsey, his wife Dee Dee, and their two children, Alex and Max; brother Willie Kinsey; sister Dorothy Kowalsky and her husband Larry; Sister-in-law Mary Ellen Jeno; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, as well as several great friends. He was Pa, aka Cookie Monster, to his grandchildren. Chuck was a very loving man with a kind soul and a great sense of humor.
Chuck served as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 970 after 40 years of service.
Chuck was a past Noble Grand and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Washington Lodge #2 and a member of the Knights of Pythias Charity Lodge #10. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends at the Stonehouse Golf Association and the Broad Bay Country Club.
The family will welcome visitors at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday October 21, 2018 from 4:00pm-5:00pm. A graveside memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Chesapeake Fire Department, Attn: Rhonda Unterbrink, 304 Albemarle Drive, Chesapeake, Virginia 23322.
