Charles Thomas McCullough Jr.

Charlie, who was 97 years old, went to be with the Lord peacefully on February 24, 2021. He was a Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dedicated to each of his family providing love, strength, support and advice. He loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities during his long life, serving at Westwood Hill Baptist Church, and the last 30 years at Suburban Christian Church. He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Wanda O’Nari (Horton) McCullough and his loving grandson Robert Royster. Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children: Donna M. Stanek and her husband Bob Stanek, Michael W. McCullough and his wife Gaile McCullough, Patti M. Derwent, and Leigh Ann M. Royster and her husband Robbie Royster. He has 8 grandchildren Steve Stanek, Jennifer Mace, Stephanie Coleman, Michael McCullough, Ben Derwent, Becky Derwent, Ashley Royster and Lauren Royster. He also had 13 great-grandchildren. Charles served during WWII in the US Navy from 1942 – 1946, then was later called back to service for the Korean War from 1950 – 1952. He worked his career for Government Civil Service, retiring from the Naval Air Systems Command; after for the Vitro Corp. The family would like to thank Commonwealth Memory Center and Amedisys Hospice for the loving care of our father. The family will receive friends from Friday, March 19, 12:30p.m. to 1:00p.m. at Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Dr, Virginia Beach, VA. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA Donations may be made in his honor to Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Drive, VA Beach, VA 23464, or a charity of your choice.
