Deborah Lynn Cravens Dempsey, 69, of Suffolk, VA, passed on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Her long battle with lung cancer ended peacefully in her home, surrounded by her daughter, grandchildren, niece, and nephew. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to Russell Cravens and Louise Albano.
She is survived by her daughter Sara Harding and son Greg Dempsey; grandchildren, Carynn and Lee Harding; sister Rusty Lusk; brother Scott Cravens; and many nieces and nephews.
Debbie graduated from Bluefield High School and worked for decades in medical billing and coding. After her children's graduations, she move to Suffolk to be near her brother and sister.
Debbie worked tirelessly to care and provide for her family. She loved fiercely and knew how to brighten a room with her wit and a smile.
Deborah’s ashes will be laid to rest back home in West Virginia and amongst her family.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks for donations to The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF).
