Deborah Louise Hare, age 72, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Deborah is survived by her sons Ryan N. Hare and Christopher L. Hare; brother, William Parks II; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Judith R. Parks, and her loving companion Larry Bowman.
Deborah was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, growing up in Ocean View and Ingleside, and graduating from Lake Taylor High School. She created the name for Wesleyan Acres United Methodist Church, which her father founded. She worked for different employers in the area while a wife and mother raising two children. She later developed a thriving home-based business as a decorative artist whose work was enjoyed in homes across the country and at weddings, showers, and holidays.
At different times in her life Deborah enjoyed nature, parks, painting and drawing, tennis, playing the piano, maintaining her homes, being with her beloved dogs, and gardening, growing amazing tomatoes and sunflowers. Most importantly Debbie was a dedicated and supportive mother, daughter, sister, and friend, whose hard work, compassion, and kindness were admired by all who knew her. She faced difficult challenges in life with perseverance and grace. She is deeply missed.
A visitation for Deborah will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, and then burial.
