Dee was born in Alabama to the late Daniel and Mildred Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harold Harris; son-in-law, Dean Bagby; and siblings, Katherine Olmstead, Mary Russell, Erskine Baker, Jeanette Cagle, and Bobby Baker.
From an early age, Dee developed a strong faith and a deep relationship with God, which remained an important part of her life throughout the years. While living in Charlotte, North Carolina, Dee met the man who would become her husband, Charles M. Harris. The two married in 1955 and made their home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2001.
Dee was a hardworking and devoted woman who never believed in sitting idle. In addition to raising her four children, she enjoyed a successful 20-year career as a Retail Sales Manager with Best Products. She took great pride in her work, but her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with those she loved, and her many fur babies.
Left to cherish Dee’s memory are her children, Chuck Harris and his wife, Katy Harris; Martin Harris; and Robin Bagby; her grandchildren, Christine, Rachel and her husband Tim, Jennifer, Erin, Lyndsy, and Matthew; her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Taylor, Tyler, Wesley, Jeremiah, and Finn; her sisters, LaWanda, Glenda, Rita, and Linda; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for a time of visitation on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00–11:30 am, followed by graveside service at noon at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia.
Dee will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
