Dorothy Ann Steele

Dorothy Ann Steele, 80, passed peacefully at her home on April 19, 2010. She was raised in Clifton Forge, Va. and has been an area resident for over 60 years. Mrs. Steele retired in Jan 2, 1987 as a GM -14 of East Tele-communications Management Detachment for the Federal Government Civil Service after 35 yrs of service. She was a member of the Bayside Baptist Church and of the Faithful Sunday School Class. Predeceased by her husband James Edward Steele, she is survived by her daughters Teresa Steele-Kerns and Lisa Steele-Whitmire and husband Alan, her sister Frances Simpson-Rich of Florida, grandchildren McKinley Steele Kerns, Jacob Logan Kerns, Brittany Lynne Whitmire, Tommy James Whitmire, and Zackary James Whitmire. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held at Friday 11 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. where a visitation will be held Thursday Evening from 6-8 pm. Interment will follow the services at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations may be made to: In Touch Ministries, St. Jude's Hospital, Make A Wish Foundation, or C.H.K.D. in honor of her memory.
