Edmund Joseph Desjardins

Norfolk-- Edmund "Eddie" J. Desjardins Jr., 88,entered into eternal rest on March 8, 2008. Eddie was born in Pawtucket, RI. on June 25, 1919 the son of the late Edmund Joseph and Albertine Desjardins. He retired from the Navy after a distinguished career and service in two wars. He later retired from Civil Service at NARF after 21 years of dedicated service. Eddie will always be rembered for his love of gardening, his long walks through the neighborhood, and his kindness to everyone. He was always ready with a smile or a helping hand for anyone in need. He was a long-standing member of ST. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, his son Daniel F. Desjardins on December 29, 2007, and his grandson Denny Seal. He is survived by his loving wife Louise, daughters Barbara Kirkland, Toni Thomas and her husband Steve, and daughter-in-law Betty Desjardins. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren including Daniel F. Desjardins Jr. and his wife Shelley along with sons David-Joseph and Devin; Joseph Duke III and his wife Christina; Christopher Kirkland and his wife Jennifer, along with daughter Katie Jones and her daughter Cadience; and son Kyle Brown; Thomas J. Martin; Billy Seal and son Brenton; Jennifer Seal and sons Zachary and Anthony. A Funeral Service to Celebrate Eddie's life will be held on Thursday March 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk Va. 23502. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors accorded Mr. Desjardins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday March 12, 2008 from 6-8:00 PM. memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
