

Edna Mae Cheeseman, affectionately known as mom, Edna Mae passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the ripe age of 90. Edna was born in Baltimore, MD, on Saturday, June 1, 1935, to George Thomas and Florence Susie Valentine Spencer. She was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, VA, where she shared over 60 years of marriage with her husband, Charles A. Cheeseman, Sr., until his passing in 2018.
Edna Mae dedicated 50 years of her life in a career she loved at Advertising Service Agency. She was an active and devoted member of the Bayside and Lynnhaven Order of the Eastern Star and Job's Daughter's, where she spent many hours teaching the principles of the organization. She was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She loved her lighthouse collection, sewing, working puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Edna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her two brothers Edward Spencer and Raymond Spencer, and her sister Mamie Spencer Jordan. She is survived by a son Charles "Charlie" A. Cheeseman, Jr., a daughter Wanda Jean McKenzie, a son-in-law Michael Wayne McKenzie; two granddaughters Jennifer McKenzie Arrington (Matthew), and Sara McKenzie Winslow (Michael); and six
great-grandchildren, Kyla Lynn Arrington, Logan Spencer Winslow, Trent Michael Arrington, Shelby Ann Winslow, Aubrey Dwayne Arrington and Bentley Michael Winslow.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Hope Presbyterian Church, 13490 Benns Church Blvd, Smithfield, VA 23430. The service will be followed by refreshments and visitation with the family.
