Edward E. Burton passed away peacefully in his beloved West Virginia mountain home on September 4th. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Edward resided for most of his life in the city of Virginia Beach. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, he was also honored to serve as a police officer & detective for the city Virginia Beach for close to two decades. Later retiring to the state of West Virginia, Edward still felt called for public service and thereafter was elected by the city council of Westernport, Maryland as chief of police, where he served for three years. Edward is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, two children and four grandsons. A graveside service will be held in the mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on September 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM located at 6309 E. VA Beach Blvd. in Norfolk.
