Elizabeth S. Charles

Elizabeth Smith Charles, 85, passed away at her home in the loving care of her family on December 13, 2012. She is predeceased by her husband, Maurice A. Charles, her beloved companion, Morris Norville, her parents, Clarence M. and Elsie T. Smith, and her brother, Clarence Smith.

She is survived to cherish her memory by her daughters: Elizabeth C. Browning, Maurica Denise Gallaway and Carol C. Buck; son-in-law and faithful care-giver, Frank Buck; five grandchildren: Kimberly Smith, Elizabeth Forrest, Brandon West, Jonathan West and Chelsea King; nine great-grandchildren: Jacob, Ryan, Ella, Olivia and Sadie Forrest; Charlotte and Meredith West; Kya Elizabeth West and Story Jackson. She is also survived by her sister, Edna S. Bloch and two brothers.

Elizabeth graduated from Suffolk High School in 1945. She was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church since 1969, the Marine Corps League, and Thalia Thumpers. She was a volunteer mentor as a Lunch Buddy at Malibu Elementary School for 7 years.

Graveside services will be held December 15, 2012, 2:30pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
