Allan was a deacon of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ and previously a deacon at Fairview Church of Christ. He was a professional butcher at Farm Fresh during his career. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but only the shooting part of the hunting, and did so for many years with his sons. Many evenings were spent crabbing with his daughter Mary. Later in life, woodworking became his passion. He shared his testimony by making wooden crosses and sending them to missionaries.
Allen never met a stranger, and during the last years of his life, he told everyone that he was the happiest he had ever been due to Brenda and the Lord coming into his life. His last years were spent laughing, traveling and loving the Lord with Brenda by his side.
