Virginia Beach ERNEST DAVID JORDAN passed away from a stroke on Monday May 18, 2009 at the Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was born in 1925 and was the last surviving child of the 11 children of Henry Randal Jordan and Georgia Edith Daniel of Fort Greene, Florida. He was a World War II veteran retiring from the U.S. Navy after 22 years as a skilled machinist in 1966, and retired from Virginia Chemicals (Celanese) in Portsmouth after 20 years. He had been a member of Kempsville Baptist Church in Virginia Beach for 45 years.

Dave will be remembered as a wonderful husband and a loving father. After retiring he turned his great mechanical skills in many directions. He was a skilled woodworker building beds, dressers, tables, lamps, etc. Dave was a potter making his own pottery wheel, experimenting with glazes and firing temperatures, and throwing hundreds of bowls, urns, pots, and plates. In the kitchen he was a fine cook and his delicious wheat loaves of bread were a family favorite. He baked 3 – 4 loaves of bread every week. Dave always had a green thumb and a marvelous vegetable garden that provided abundantly for his family and neighbors. He especially liked experimenting with pickle recipes.
The family will receive family and friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia from 6pm – 8:30pm on Friday May 22, where services and the interment will be held on Saturday May 23 at 11am.
