Ernest J. McGanty,

Ernest "Ernie" James McGanty, Jr. 81, of the 4700 block of Crown Point Lane passed away March 25, 2010 at his home. He was born in Houston, Texas. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran with over 24 years. He was also a manager of Colonial Campground with over 15 years experience. Ernie was a member of Bayside Baptist Church, Va. Beach, VA. His other memberships include the Moose Lodge, Thalia Volunteer Fire Dept, American Legion, and the Pembroke Manor Civic League. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Elsie McGanty, and his stepmother Alma Louise McGanty; one sister Gwendolyn Hruska. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn E. McGanty, three daughters Vivian L. McClenney (Paul) of Suffolk; Barbara E. Oshel (Rod) of Millbrook Al.; and Deborah A. Samuel (Charles) of Orlando, Fl. and two sons Ernest J. McGanty, III (Pennie) and Robert E. McGanty (Debbie) both of Va. Beach; one sister, Josephine Armstrong of Ca., and one brother, Leo McGanty of Tx. He is survived by his grandchildren, Melissa McClenney Fago (Dale), Tara McClenney Worley (George), Bob Oshel and Suze Oshel, Kim McGanty (Brad Eskar), Micki McGanty Wall (Ben), James McGanty (Kendal), Nate McGanty (Jessica), Maegan Samuel, Daryl Sager (Allie), and Chrystal Sager, 13 great grandchildren and his special devoted cat, Rusty, and many other relatives and friends. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
