Esther Ruth Davis

Esther Ruth Davis, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, January 17th, 2014. She was a retired cosmetician, having worked at Rices Nachman, as well as Smith & Welton Department Stores in Norfolk. She was a member of Ocean View Democratic Club and Ladies Auxiliary VFW in Ocean View.

Esther was born October 14th, 1921 to the late George Robert Fields and Irene Barnes Fields. She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Denise L. Mathis and her nine brothers and sisters. Esther is survived by her son Richard and Sandra Smith, daughters Patricia and Dr. Joseph Spingarn, Charlotte Rubio, Nancy and Jeff Goldberg, Deborah and Rodger Spruill Jr., nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, her sister Irene Ward, and sister in law Bertie Fields.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.The family wishes to thank Christina Post for all of her care and friendship with mom.
