Evelyn Bowles Grant

Virginia Beach, VA Mrs. Evelyn Grant, 90, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 28, 2009. Born May 27, 1919 to the late Shields and Linda Bowles. She was born and raised in the Norfolk area, and was married George W. Grant, Jr. August 30, 1940. She was a member of Fox Hall Baptist Church, which is now known as Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she worked there for over 25 years in the children's department.She was also retired from JC Pennys after a number of years.

She was predeceased by her husband George W. Grant, Jr.; she is survived by her daughter Joyce G. Halstead and her husband E. Leonard; two grandchildren, Trevor G. Halstead and his wife, Virginia, and Lisa M. Halstead; and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Natalie; and sisters Ruby Jeter and Betty Ann Hewett.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday July 3, 2009 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, with Rev. Fred Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
