

Ezekiel James Bright Jr. (Jamie) native of Norfolk, Virginia passed away on May 20, 2019, at Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 62. Jamie was born in Norfolk, Virginia on May 19, 1957. He was an avid motorcycle rider, auto mechanic, truck driver and loved karate. Jamie loved to help anyone in need and was known as the neighborhood handyman and candy man; he always had candy and snacks available for kids in the neighborhood. Jamie was a truck driver for Highs Ice Cream, Valley Food Service and MDV Nash Finch. Jamie’s pastime was cooking and eating; it was nothing for him to cook each of his kids or visitors their choice of food in one sitting.
Jamie was predeceased by his father, Ezekiel James Bright Sr., mother, Addie Mae Bright, brother, Michael Bright, son, Sedric Riddick, daughter, Linette Pugh.
Left to cherish Jamie’s memory is daughters LaQuita Anderson-White (Christopher), Jewonda Bright Jenkins (Henry), his son Ezekiel James Bright III. Jamie’s grandchildren Dajah Anderson, Sedric Riddick Jr., Aysia McCoy, Indiya McCoy, Danielle Bright, Josiah Jenkins, Sedrick Bright, and in waiting for Jordan Jenkins (expected to arrive July 5, 2019). Jamie’s siblings Wayne Bright, Darnell Bright, Jewel Hines, Rhonda Chatman, and former wife, Lillie Bright. Jamie has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friend and caregiver Lisa Trotter.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Legacy Hospice for their care of Jamie and to the staff of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Pastor Calvin Thompson for his kind words.
Viewing/Funeral Service to take place on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, at 11 am with Pastor Calvin Thompson officiating. Interment to follow in the Garden of Devotion in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
