Faye Johnson Wilkinson, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Faye was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late James M. Johnson, Sr. and Frances May Johnson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell E. Wilkinson, Sr. as well as her brother, James “Jimmy” M. Johnson, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Loraine Lang Wilkinson.
Faye moved to Norfolk, VA with her family at the age of 13 and graduated from Norview High School. She retired from Norfolk Public Schools where she was the Office Manager at Coleman Place Elementary School for many years. Her family was the most important thing to her which was very apparent as the walls in her home were full of family pictures. She enjoyed watching college basketball but her favorite sport was Little League Baseball. Her grandchildren played baseball/softball and she rarely missed a game. She had a strong faith and served as a Stephen Minister for Grace Bible Church in Virginia Beach, VA.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Russell “Rusty” E. Wilkinson, Jr., Angela May Bon and her husband, Zach, and Lauren Faye Simpson and her husband, Rick; grandchildren, Lucas, Zachary (Shelby), Cole (Delaney), Kyle, Jordan and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ana, Zachary, Jr., Neely, Christopher, Zeke, Maverick, Maeson, Lincoln, Layla and Bowen; and great-great grandchildren, Adalind and Hagan.
The family invites you to a time of visitation on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held following the time of visitation starting at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
