Frederick, or Fred as known by friends and family, was born on November 14, 1948 in Honolulu Hawaii to his mother Louise H. Voccia and grew up between the Bronx in New York City and Brandon, FL before joining the US Navy at the age of 17.
Fred is preceded in death by his mother Louise and survived by his wife Barbara E. Voccia of Norfolk, VA ; their children Karen E. Voccia and Christopher M. Voccia; daughter in-law Jennifer Voccia, grandson Miles; and the family of his sisters Frances Jeffers and Tina Eldridge.
Chief Voccia retired from the Navy in 1986 after serving over 20 years. Fred enjoyed running as a member of the Tidewater Striders, gardening, fishing with friends and family, NASCAR, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his many beloved pets, and especially his grandson Miles.
