George T. Drumwright

George T. Drumwright, Sr. peacefully passed away on December 19, 2013. He was a graduate of Maury High School, a World War II veteran, and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eunice; daughter-in-law, Trisha Barnette; half-sister, Ruth Griffin. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, George Drumwright, Jr. and wife Susan, Richard Drumwright and wife Pearl, and Barry Drumwright and wife Kathy; his 6 loving grandchildren Joshua and wife Love, Paul, Kathryn, Kent and wife Jackie, Dean and Nicole. George is also survived by his sister, Doris Alley and husband Lee; and his brother-in-law “Grif” Griffin . George will be greatly missed and remembered always as being kind and wanting to help the less-fortunate. George was a handyman extraordinaire and loved children and family. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave. Norfolk, VA. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kings Daughters Hospital, Norfolk, VA.
