Jeff Miller was born on February 8, 1960, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Juanita A. Miller and the late James E. Miller. Intelligent, outgoing, fun-loving, and adventurous, Jeff embraced life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a spirit that touched the hearts of those who knew him.
Jeff was a proud graduate of Norview High School, Class of 1978. He continued his education at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. A devoted Hokie throughout his life, Jeff always enjoyed following Virginia Tech athletics and cheering on his favorite teams.
Professionally, Jeff enjoyed a successful career in corporate real estate. After many years of experience in the industry, his determination and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own corporate real estate office.
From an early age, Jeff had a passion for sports and adventure. His love of baseball began when he served as a bat boy, eagerly awaiting the day he would be old enough to take the field himself. As he grew, his athletic interests expanded to include football and wrestling. Later in life, he discovered the excitement of snowboarding, windsurfing, and surfing at the beach. Whether on the field, in the mountains, or riding the ocean waves, Jeff was always ready for his next adventure.
Jeff also had an inquisitive mind and a wide variety of interests. He spent countless hours on his iPad following the stock market, researching healthy eating, watching travel adventures on YouTube, and keeping up with Virginia Tech sports. He especially enjoyed playing word games with people from around the world, combining his sharp mind with his love of connecting with others.
Family was an important part of Jeff’s life, and the annual family Beach Weeks created treasured memories that will be cherished for years to come. As the son of a Navy meteorologist, Jeff developed a lifelong fascination with the sky, weather, and outer space. His natural curiosity and adventurous spirit made travel one of his greatest pleasures.
One of Jeff’s most memorable journeys was a special road trip with his mother. Together, they traveled through Oklahoma and on to California, following portions of historic Route 66. Along the way, they explored charming Old West towns and experienced the breathtaking beauty of White Sands National Park. This wonderful adventure became a treasured memory, filled with special moments shared between mother and son.
Jeff was the beloved son of Juanita A. Miller and the late James E. Miller, and the dear brother of Cindy Miller Calhoon and her husband, Mark. He held a special place in his heart for his aunts, Edna Buddrius of Oregon and Jean McDaniel of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his beloved Aunt Joyce, Uncle Bill, Aunt Ann, Aunt Mary, and Uncle Bob. Jeff was also surrounded by the love of many cousins and wonderful lifelong friends whose friendships enriched his life.
Jeff will be remembered for his intelligence, adventurous nature, sense of fun, and enthusiasm for life’s many possibilities. He lived with curiosity, enjoyed new experiences, and created lasting memories with the people he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, and special moments he shared will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who shared Jeff’s information and helped spread the word during the search for him. A very special thank you is extended to Donnie Norrell and Mark Calhoon for their extraordinary efforts, dedication, and compassion in helping locate Jeff and bringing him to his final resting place.
Though Jeff’s journey on earth has ended, his adventurous spirit, the memories he created, and the love he shared will live on forever. May he rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service celebrating Jeff’s life and the many cherished memories he leaves behind will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Haygood United Methodist Church, 4713 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
Following the memorial service, the family will host a time of fellowship, welcoming friends and loved ones to gather, reminisce, and find comfort in the special memories and friendships that made Jeff’s life so meaningful.
