

Virginia Beach- Gerald A. Cole, Sr. passed away on July 18, 2011. He was born in Johnson City, New York on May 16, 1928. He retired as a storekeeper chief in 1965 after 20 years service in the U.S. Navy. He retired again in 1993, after 28 years from his business, Norview Exxon Service Center on Chesapeake Blvd. in Norfolk. He was proud of his years in the Navy and equally proud to serve as an Exxon dealer. He was a member of Fleet Reserve #99 and a member of the American Legion, Post 0110. He was an active member of Norview United Methodist Church where he held many varied positions of leadership.
He is predeceased by his parents Julia and Jesse Cole, Sr.; 3 brothers, Jesse Jr., David, and Billy; 1 sister Marjorie; and his son Gerald Cole, Jr who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theresa Ann; children Kathie Kubisek and her husband Theodore from Jacksonville, Fla, Thomas Cole and his wife Carolyn, Karen Barnes and her husband Pastor Michael Barnes all of Chesapeake; daughter-in-law June Cole; grandchildren Brian Cole, Jamie Cole, Christopher Cole, Edward Kubisek III Shauna Kubisek, Jereme Cole, Justin Cole, Tyler Barnes, and Theresa Barnes; great-grandchildren Taylor Cole, Hunter Cole, Andrew Kubisek, Hayden Cole, Hannah Cole, Elizabeth Cole, Austin Kubisek, Alayna Cole, Alexis Kubisek, and Jacob Pierce; and many nieces and nephews still living in New York State, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. Services will be held Friday July 22, 2011 at 11am at Norview United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the general fund of Norview United Methodist Church, 1112, Norview Ave. Norfolk, VA or the Diabetes Foundation.
