VIRGINIA BEACH GERALDINE A. FREEHILL (Age 84) of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully on April 29, 2011 at Courtenay Springs Village Nursing Home, Merritt Island, FL after a long illness from a rare neurological disease, Corticobasal Degeneration. Jeri was a very warm, positive and open person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was articulate and easy to talk with, yet was also known for speaking her mind on issues of importance. She was a champion for what was right and participated actively in her church and community affairs throughout her life. She loved the outdoors, had a passion for gardening, and was ever experimenting with new varieties to keep the yard blooming year-round. Her collection of nectaring plants provided a sanctuary for a dozen species of butterflies that visited the yard daily. Jeri had a special knack for organization and business savvy that served her well in her careers as a Mom, in shipping logistics for the Navy, as a dental hygienist and as partner to her husband, Joe Freehill, in their architectural service company. Jeri is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Joe Freehill; her daughter, Charlotte Hall and grand-son, Scott, of Norfolk; and her son, Dennis Frazier, his wife, Samantha, and grand-daughters, Melissa and Lindsay of Chesapeake. Her memorial service will be held at Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church, 245 S. Rosemont Road, Virginia Beach, VA (757-486-1494) on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 2 PM with Rev. Ronald W. Lee officiating. In lieu of memorial contributions, please do a random act of kindness in Jeri’s memory. Condolences may be offered on line at www.woodlawngroup.com.
