

Helen Ozella Whitehorne Bryant, 86, went to be with her Lord April 1, 2011. She was born in Norfolk to the late Monroe and Beulah Whitehorne. Helen was preceded by her of 63 years Wilbur Lee (Smoky) Bryant both were long time members of Temple Baptist Church in Norfolk and sang before the President of the United States. Helen served her country during World War II as a welder in the shipyard, then went on to work for the US Postal Service. Helen took time off long enough to raise her children and then moved on to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in the Nuclear Division. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter; Priscella Bryant LeMoine and husband Ona Joseph LeMoine of Suffolk, three sons; Wilbur Lee Bryant, Jr., of Norfolk, Patrick Ames Bryant and wife Karen Bryant of Pulaski, VA., and Randal Lynn Bryant, Sr., and wife Patricia Bryant of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great greatgrandchild. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 5 - 7 PM in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11 AM in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk.
