

Ima Jane Thornhill was born Imojean Williams to James and Bettie Williams on December 6, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was known as Jane by many and Ima by close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and three sisters Ruth Cartwright, Bettye Williams, and Clara Watson. Ima attended Norfolk Public Schools and Tidewater Community College. She worked for many years at NorShipCo as a clerk typist and a buyer before retiring in 1997. Ima resumed working as a bookkeeper with Help Unlimited and Diversified Strategies until 2015. She was a long-time member of Tabernacle of God Holiness Church of Norfolk, Virginia. Mom, Granny, Aunt Jane leaves to cherish her memory daughter Sheran Taylor of Virginia Beach, son John Taylor Jr. of Norfolk; grandchildren Kendra Castellano of Portsmouth, and Karlena Jones of Virginia Beach; great grandchildren Giovanny Castellano Jr., and Riley Silva. She also leaves a special niece, Shirley Lucas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ima Jane loved bingo, and most games of chance. She enjoyed playing cards, Pokeno, and the casino. She made friends easily even though she was outspoken, that garnered many laughs. Ima said it like it was, or as she saw it. Mom was "funny- mean" and we loved her for it. She will be truly missed!
A visitation will be held on February 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, 23502.
The funeral service will follow on the same day, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, at the same location.
A committal service will take place on February 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm, also at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
