
Norfolk ~ Jack R. Mullins, 70, of Norfolk, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007. Born May 7, 1937 to Willie E. and Hazel R. Mullins in Bluefield, W. Va.. He graduated from Beaver High School in Bluefield before serving in the U.S. Army. He married Betty J. Bumgardner on August 20, 1965. Jack was a self-employed contractor for over 40 years in the Norfolk area. He was a member of the Virginia Beach Shag Club and the Norfolk Western Railroad Bowling League. He is survived by his wife of 42 years; daughter, Rebecca S. (Jerry) Quick; two granddaughters, Courtney Shields and Grace H. Quick; mother, Hazel R. Mullins of Norfolk and Burlington (N.C.); sister, Alma S. (Bud) Litton of Burlington (N.C.); brother-in-law, Robert "Pete" Bumgardner of Elizabeth City (N.C.); aunt, Polly Tate of Yardley (PA.); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his father; sister, Mary Jo Sands; and a brother, William R. Mullins. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at noon, Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the gravesite in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating.
