Jane Vivian Howes, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her home. Jane was born in Virginia to the late, Scott and Grace Collins. She is also predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Joe J. Howes, Sr. and her son, Joe J. Howes, Jr. Jane was a supervising secretary with the Commonwealth of Virginia Probation and Parole. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching Nascar racing. Jane was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. She loved listening to Elvis and traveling in her free time. A devoted Christian, she was also a member of the Gateway Freewill Baptist Church as well as the Senior Saints Group.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Janet Sue Gill; her son, John A. Howes and wife, Joyce both of Virginia Beach; her brother, Allen Collins of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Simon Peter Gill, Elizabeth Jane Gill and Andrew William Gill; daughter-in-law, Loretta Kay Howes and finally her great grandchildren, Rose and Julia Gill. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sentara Hospice Care.
Services in honor of Jane Howes will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 12:00pm at Gateway Freewill Baptist Church, 5473 Virginia Beach Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd Norfolk, Virginia 23502.
