Obituary of Jerry Martin Miller
IT’S A MOVING DAY CELEBRATION! Jerry Martin Miller, 82, passed away on November 8th, 2019. Jerry was born on November 8th, 1937 in Rocky Point, North Carolina to Christopher and Lena Miller. Jerry always had a love for learning which he demonstrated during his time at Rocky Point Elementary and Long Creek Grady High School. He then expanded his love for learning new skills to the U.S Navy, where he served honorably from 1956 – 1960. During his service Jerry became an Aviation Electronics Technician. After his service, Jerry pursued a career at RCA where he worked out of Cape Canaveral and Patrick Air Force Base in Melbourne, FL. Jerry then found joy working in Aviation & Tactics Simulation, most notably for Link Simulation Systems Division, where he worked on Orion (P-3C) Aircraft and S-3 Tracker Aircraft as a contractor for the U.S Navy. Jerry ended his career in Aviation after 31 years in Norfolk, VA at SSAAC Lab. Since Jerry always wanted to continue learning he decided starting a second career in 1996 as a real estate agent for Gallery of Homes. When Jerry was not hard at work he enjoyed spending some lazy days fishing with his brother in Belhaven, NC and at Lake Joyce where he always trying to catch "Bubba". While Jerry was waiting to catch an award winning fish, you could find him reading some of his favorite books from authors Bill Johnson and Smith Wigglesworth. Jerry dedicated his life to the Lord, he loved the Lord above all people, and ministering to all who were willing and in need. Jerry has enjoyed the last 25 years with his loving wife Carol by his side. Jerry will be dearly missed by his sons Randy, Jeff and Chris and continues to live on in the hearts of his step children Sherry (Stede) Granger, Darin (Bertha) Perkins. Jerry was a very special Grandfather to Joy (Bryan) Daughtry, Josh (Danielle) Radford, Daniel Radford, Ave Miller, Stede Granger II, Leah Granger and Dane (Karen) Perkins. Jerry will also be cherished by numerous other Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, a sister Bettie Hoffman, family and friends. Jerry was met in heaven by his parents and four siblings, James Miller, Carolyn Miller, Dorothy Johnson and Jean Carter. Jerry was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Jeannette F. Miller. A celebration of Jerry’s life will take place on Monday November 18th, 2019 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Visiting hours will begin at 1:00pm with a service at 2pm. Burial will take place after the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a reception at the Funeral Home following burial.
