

Jimmie Love Bean, born on February 24, 1934 in Chilhowie, VA to the late Alexander P. and Hattie Stump Bean, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 91. Jimmie, a good man, a respectable man, a smart man, and a nice man willing to give physically, mentally, or support without a second thought.
Jim proudly served his country as a medic for 24 years in the Army National Guard. Additionally, he worked as an Audio Visual Specialist with the United States government. Jimmie was known for his attention to detail, whether he was cleaning out the van or mowing the grass, he did it with precision. Additionally, he was always willing to help any one in need and his handyman skills were regularly put to use. In his free time, he enjoyed photography and traveling. His favorite spots were Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach, or to Chilhowie, VA. Above everything else, his undying love for Carol or "Meemaw" was his favorite past time.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Carol Lee Whitehurst Bean; sons, Thomas Alexander Bean (Kimberly), Jimmie Lee Bean (Nina) and Timothy Love Bean (Mary Beth); grandchildren, Beth Ann Atkins (Jeremy), Brittany Craft (Andrew), Geoffrey Bean (Lauren), John Bean, Hunter Bean (Kelsey), Carly Bean; great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Atkins, Andy Craft, Owen Atkins, Vance Craft, Aden Bean, Landry Bean, Alma Craft, Emery Bean, Ezekiel Bean, Olivia Bean, Elijah Bean; sisters-in-law, Diane Whitehurst and Martha Frugard; dear friends, Juanita Miller, Ron Herrick, Mason Ridlen, Mark and Cindy Calhoun, and Jeff Miller; and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the loving care that the staff at the Acclaim at East Beach provided to Jimmie and continue to provide to Carol.
The family invites friends to a time of visitation on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. The funeral service to celebrate Jimmie's life will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
