I met Johnny in Monterey 15 years ago. We dated briefly, he was a wonderful free spirit! He was wise, and funny....deeper than he let on. He adored his son, then five. He had sparkling black eyes, a handsome face, and thick dark hair. He told me about how when his "Pappy" died in North Carolina, his grandmother never dated againHe loved the song "Christian Island"- by Gordon Lightfoot. I encourage everyone who loved him to listen to this song. He loved being out on the sea in his boat. He told me "-long term relationships don't work". 
   Very intelligent. Boyish, wise, daring. He was always looking for his next adventure .I personally have thought of him every time I hear James's Taylor's "Going to Carolina". Sad, very sad.
