John Andrew Rathjen

Born on March 4, 1989, John grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and attended school at St. Pius X, Norview High School, and Maury High School. He played baseball at Little Creek National and was loved for his sense of humor and ever-present smile. Those who knew him remember his kind, gentle soul and his willingness to help anyone in need.

John is survived by his parents, Jon Rathjen and Susan and Timothy Collins III; sister, Kristin Johnson and her husband, Greg; as well as his daughters, Genesis and Madison, and wife, Jasmine. He also leaves behind a niece, Avery, and nephew, Owen. He is loved and remembered by his grandmother, Maureen Collins, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Frances Rathjen and Regina Clifford, his grandfathers RADM William F. Clifford, Jr., John Andrew Rathjen, and Timothy J. Collins, Jr. and uncle, Kris Rathjen.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 15 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA.
